FUSION FINAL ARTICLE

The FUSION project was a strategic partnership in the field of education supporting the exchange of good practices, with 6 schools from Turkey, Hungary, France, North Macedonia, Greece, and Spain. However, the Fusion project officially started in September 2019, as an Erasmus+, it had already begun as an e-Twinning project a year before.

 

 

It was planned for teachers as an Erasmus+ project including 5 days of joint staff training activities. In addition, it was designed and implemented as an e-Twinning project for both students and teachers. It was built on an ongoing eTwinning project. And also, we continued as a simultaneous eTwinning project for students mainly. This partnership aimed to provide unity based on the culture of cooperation, which schools aim to improve by exchanging experiences and information directly with each other. Working together collaboratively with the same problems will positively affect mutual support in all schools. Our main aim was to improve the quality of education, create a common understanding of internationalization, increase efficiency through Erasmus programs, and prepare a common evaluation concept. All project activities served this purpose to realize our concrete results.

In the FUSİON project, partner schools encouraged and supported each other in solutions to common problems. FUSION consisted of key elements Future minded, Utilisable, Skillful, Innovative, Organised, and Non-stop. All these elements were used to improve teachers' skills and the quality of education.

The FUSION project helped participant teachers development of ICT skills, develop proficiency, and fluency with tools of technology and incorporate purposeful apps into the classroom. It also enabled participant schools to Integrate technology into the classroom and provided all students with equitable access to knowledge and skills that the 21st century needed.FUSION provided the necessary support for teachers to explore their competencies and to develop their ability to help students to prepare for the future. Our teachers started to be aware of ever-changing trends in technology and were in tune with what the future might bring to education. They learned what video, photography, animation, storytelling, music, animation, game, presentation, and assessment tools were, and how and when to use them. 

Interactive and encouraging training was given to them to explore the functions of technology and learn how to harness its full potential in the classroom environment to enhance their students learning and motivation. After every joint staff training activity participant teachers became more qualified, motivated, and supportive to create an environment that makes our students engaged in school. As teachers introduced more and more technology into the classroom, it raised the quality of the class. Technology also improved dynamics between teachers and students especially while they were working on the e-Twinning project of FUSION.

FUSION showed us the need for fun and engaging learning approaches in order to make the teaching and learning process more enjoyable for both students and teachers alike. Activities of FUSION highlighted the impact of technology on students’ social and cognitive development in addition to basic and soft skills.

The diversity of profiles created a dynamic learning environment to practice intercultural communication. Activities enabled participants to explore, understand, describe and compare and contrast lifestyles across Europe. We completed our project successfully because we had a reliable partnership via eTwinning, a resource plan, an operating agreement, documented objectives, and goals, good team communication strategies, and well-organized dissemination activities. eTwinning made our students the center of the project. They took part in the planning, implementation, and assessment phases. We used demonstration, quizzes, small group discussions, role-playing, hands-on teaching, and learning with-doing methods.

What’s more, numerous activities helped teachers to do  their jobs better. Our materials were published on Twinspace and the project’s Facebook page. We started 2 years but regarding Covid 19 pandemic, we completed our project in 3 years.2 years of physical and one year of online activities were done. Mobilities and academic content were realized with reference to physical and academic conditions and competencies of host schools. Technology had a universal language that connected people whose religions, nationalities, and languages.Knowing people from different backgrounds made participants develop respect and tolerance towards each other which is one of the priorities of strategic partnerships.Getting motivated to learn or improve their foreign languages were the natural consequences of partnership.

FUSION RETURNS FROM NYIREGYHÀZA IN HUNGARY, THE LAST MOBILITY OF OUR ERASMUS+ PROJECT

From May 22 to 28, the Erasmus Team of Spanish center formed by Francisco J. Felipe (project coordinator/Department of Greek), Javier Pérez (Department of Technology), Fernando Déniz (Department of Music) and Lourdes Martínez "Malu" ( English Department) has worked with our partners from Turkey, North Macedonia, Greece, France and our Hungarian hosts on the latest project mobility in Nyiregyhàza. This adventure began in 2019 in Ankara, Turkey and its central theme is the application of digital tools in education. We start the week with the reception of the different partners at the Nyiregyhàzi SZC Szécheni István Technikum és Kollégium.

Attila Szabó, director of the center, and Éva Kissné Sinka, coordinator of the project in Hungary, were waiting for us there. We dedicated the morning to the presentation of the Hungarian team that accompanied us throughout the stay, to the projection of videos including a brief summary of our mobility in Belfort (France) in March and to the visit of the center's facilities. We visited the city accompanied by Csilla, a history teacher, who explained everything about the origin of the place and its most emblematic buildings. At the Nyiregyházi Szakképzesí Centrum we held the first digital workshop where we worked on programming applied to design. The center is a space for Professional Studies Internships for students of Industrial Design in wood, textiles and metals. We dedicated Tuesday morning to a very interesting visit to the University of Nyiregyháza.
We were received by a team of professors from the center and the professor in charge of the university's Internationalization Program through the Erasmus + programs gave us a presentation followed by a brief discussion on the benefits of these programs and their possible future improvements. We visited all the facilities of the center and attended three workshops: a workshop on robotics and programming linked to previous content seen in mobility to Ierapetra and Tenerife, one on aerial simulation and one on the use of Lego in the classroom for skills development. In one of the presentations we attended, the benefit of Dual Education was explained, which is being implemented in the scientific branches, specifically, the agricultural ones. We found the content very interesting since we at IES Tegueste also have this educational modality in the Professional Cycles.

The cultural theme of this visit was sport. Linked to this content, we were able to visit the Nyiregyháza Sport Center, opened less than a year ago and considered one of the largest in Europe. There we could see Olympic athletics tracks with their different modalities, outdoors and indoors, as well as spaces for fitness, fencing and martial arts, among others. The building has bedrooms for athletes during the celebration of national and international competitions. During our visit to the Open Village Museum guided by Myrtill Juház, we had the opportunity to practice archery with master archer András Baku.

"Gamification" was present in the session dedicated to the use of different applications for didactic use. David Nagy presented us with Motivapp, a tool that allows us to evaluate the implementation and development of the different subjects from the mobile. Hengsperger István told us about applications to use in the subject of Physical Education (also for personal sports use!) and Judit Drevenyák presented us with Hashtag.School applied to the subject of Language and Literature. These sessions were included under the theme "gamification": another alternative to learn significantly, interactively, using digital media and enjoying the learning process. The mobility in Hungary ended with the delivery of the official certificates of attendance and a brief stay in Budapest to get to know the capital of the host country. We want to thank the Hungarian team, especially Edit, Zoltán, Attila, Lazlo, Csilla, István and Tamás led by Eve, for their hospitality and dedication to our FUSION project during this week.
This last meeting has been very emotional after having shared collaborative work and a sincere friendship for three years. We will continue working until the completion of the project and we hope to establish new collaborations with some of our partners for future projects. FUSION REGRESA DE NYIREGYHÀZA EN HUNGRÍA, ÚLTIMA MOVILIDAD DE NUESTRO PROYECTO ERASMUS +

Del 22 al 28 de mayo el Equipo Erasmus de nuestro centro formado por Francisco J. Felipe (coordinador del proyecto/ Departamento de Griego), Javier Pérez (Departamento de Tecnología), Fernando Déniz (Departamento de Música) y Lourdes Martínez "Malu" (Departamento de Inglés) ha trabajado con nuestros socios de Turquía, Macedonia del Norte, Grecia, Francia y nuestros anfitriones húngaros en la última movilidad del proyecto en Nyiregyhàza. Esta aventura comenzó en 2019 en Ankara, Turquía y su tema central es la aplicación de las herramientas digitales en la educación. Comenzamos la semana con la recepción de los diferentes socios en el Nyiregyhàzi SZC Szécheni István Technikum és Kollégium.

Allí nos esperaban Attila Szabó, director del centro y Éva Kissné Sinka, coordinadora del proyecto en Hungría. Dedicamos la mañana a la presentación del equipo húngaro que nos acompañó durante toda la estancia, a la proyección de vídeos incluido un breve resumen de nuestra movilidad en Belfort (Francia) en marzo y a la visita de las instalaciones del centro. Visitamos la ciudad acompañados por Csilla, profesora de  Historia, que nos explicó todo lo referente al origen del lugar y sus edificios más emblemáticos. En el Nyiregyházi Szakképzesí Centrum realizamos el primer taller digital donde trabajamos programación aplicada al diseño. El centro es un espacio de Prácticas de Estudios Profesionales para el alumnado de Diseño Industrial en maderas, textiles y metales. La mañana del martes la dedicamos a una visita muy interesante en la Universidad de Nyiregyháza.

Nos recibió un equipo de profesores del centro y la profesora encargada del Programa de Internacionalización de la universidad a través de los programas Erasmus + nos hizo una  presentación seguida de un breve coloquio sobre los beneficios de estos programas y sus posibles mejoras futuras. Visitamos todas las instalaciones del centro y asistimos a tres talleres: un taller sobre robótica y programación ligado a contenidos previos vistos en la movilidad a Ierapetra y Tenerife, uno sobre simulación aérea y uno sobre el uso de Lego en las aulas para el desarrollo competencial. En una de las presentaciones a las que asistimos se explicó el beneficio de la Educación Dual (Dual Education) que se está implementado en las ramas científicas, concretamente, las agrícolas. Nos resultó muy interesante el contenido ya que nosotros en el IES Tegueste también tenemos esa modalidad educativa en los Ciclos Profesionales.

El tema cultural de esta visita era el deporte. Vinculado a este contenido pudimos visitar el Sport Center de Nyiregyháza inaugurado hace menos de un año y considerado uno de los más grandes de Europa. Allí pudimos ver pistas olímpicas de atletismo con sus diferentes modalidades, en exterior y cubiertas, así como espacios para fitness, esgrima y artes marciales entre otros. El edificio tiene habilitados dormitorios para los deportistas durante la celebración de competiciones nacionales e internacionales. En la visita que realizamos al Open Village Museum (Museo Etnológico al aire libre) guiados por Myrtill Juház, tuvimos la oportunidad de practicar tiro con arco con el maestro arquero András Bakú.

La "gamificación" estuvo presente en la sesión dedicada al uso de diferentes aplicaciones de uso didáctico. David Nagy nos presentó Motivapp, una herramienta que permite evaluar la implementación y desarrollo de las diferentes materias desde el móvil. Hengsperger István nos habló de aplicaciones para usar en la materia de Educación Física (¡también para uso personal deportivo!) y Judit Drevenyák nos presentó Hashtag.School aplicada a la materia de Lengua y Literatura. Estas sesiones se englobaban bajo el tema "gamificación": otra alternativa más para aprender significativamente, de forma interactiva, utilizando medios digitales y disfrutando del proceso de aprendizaje. La movilidad en Hungría se cerró con  la entrega de los certificados oficiales de asistencia y una breve estancia en  Budapest para conocer la capitald del país anfitrión. Queremos agradecer al equipo húngaro, especialmente, a Edit, Zoltán, Attila, Lazlo, Csilla, István y Tamás liderados por Eve, su hospitalidad y dedicación a nuestro proyecto FUSION durante esta semana.

Este último encuentro ha sido muy emotivo después de haber compartido durante tres años trabajo colaborativo y una sincera amistad. Seguiremos trabajando hasta la finalización del proyecto y confiamos en establecer nuevas colaboraciones con algunos de nuestros socios para futuros proyectos. Last meeting in Nyiregyháza in just a few days!

We are so close to our last FUSION meeting! A final countdown to meet you all in Hungary, the last country we are going to visit in this adventure we started in 2019 thanks to Hacer Yayla who shared with us "her" FUSION project. During the last three years we have faced many drawbacks to carry on with all the mobilities and activities planned at the very beginning in 2019. We look back and think about the online meetings we held in 2020 during and after the lockdown, just waiting for the right moment to be able to move again after vsiiting Ankara and Kôcani before the world changed.
Patience, trust and confidence took us to Ierapetra, Tenerife and Belfort this academic year, just to do what we had planned sharing the moments which are now little diamonds in our memories.
Woodrow Wilson, president of USA, said "Friendship is the cement that will ever hold the world together". In a few days in Nyiregyháza we will confirm that learning new digital tools to apply in education is the main official theme of our project but, the core of it is diversity, respect for other cultures, empathy, the finding of hidden European treasures and, the most important of all this quest, the bond which links us beyond borders.
Let's enjoy our last meeting! Emotions and happiness have always fed this project whose name, FUSION, defines our spirit and achieved goals during this long and enriching journey.

Último encuentro en Nyiregyháza en unos pocos días!
¡Qué cerca estamos ya de cerrar nuestro proyecto FUSION! Una  cuenta atrás para reunirnos en Hungría, el último país que vamos a visitar en esta aventura que comenzó en 2019 gracias a Hacer Yayla que compartió con nosotros "su" proyecto. Durante los últimos tres años nos hemos enfrentado a muchos obstáculos para llevar a cabo las movilidades y actividades que planeamos al comienzo de 2019. Miramos atrás y pensamos en las reuniones online que tuvimos en 2020 durante y después del confinamiento, simplemente esperando el momento oportuno par ser capaces de volver a movernos de nuevo después de haber visitado Ankara y Kôcani antes de que el mundo cambiara.
Paciencia, confianza y seguridad nos llevaron a Ierapetra, Tenerife y Belfort este curso, para hacer lo que planeamos compartiendo los momentos que ahora son pequeñas perlas en nuestra memoria.
Woodrow Wilson, presidente de los EEUU, dijo "la amistad es el cemento que siempre mantendrá unido el mundo". En pocos días en  Nyiregyháza confirmaremos que aprender nuevas herrramientas digitales para implementar en educación es el tema oficial principal de nuestro proyecto pero, su corazón es la diversidad, el respeto por otras culturas, la empatía, el descubrimiento de tesoros europeos escondidos y, lo más importante de esta aventura, el lazo que nos une más allá de las fronteras.
¡Disfrutemos nuestro último encuentro! Las emociones y la felicidad han alimentado siempre este proyecto cuyo nombre FUSION define nuestro espíritu y los objetivos conseguidos durante este largo y enriquecedor viaje.
 
 

Organizing ERASMUS + mobilities despite everything!

Covid 19 , the Brexit , the war in Ukraine and the general situation we are living in are not making our lives easy .
As teachers , we have the responsibility to catch up with students who are not used to working anymore , who skip school because they think they can manage on their own , and for whom it is difficult to go back to a ‘normal’ life .
Some students, and even teachers, were traumatized by this period because they lost someone or they could not stand the lockdown psychologically and more and more people present symptoms of mental health problems such as phobias, depressions, anxiety and so on.
Organizing ERASMUS + mobilities in this crisis was not easy even sometimes tricky , especially since we had to finish all the projects from 2019 to 2021, so for some of us, we had the double of projects and trips to organize as usual.
First of all you had to check about local and international rules about Covid 19 and make sure that all the partners could join the mobility. Will they have to be vaccinated? To wear masks, inside and / or outside? What type of masks is allowed? When and where must they show they green pass? So many different cases you had to cope with.

Secondly , some of our projects had been written two years ago, and some of the activities had to be cancelled because of security and sanitary rules, so you had to find new things to do, but still corresponding to the topic of the application. But we are all very creative and each mobility was the occasion to discover new applications, learn new things and enjoy the landscapes and cultural aspects of the countries where we stayed.

We mostly tried to find a maximum of activities outside, so the problem of social distances could be simpler to deal with.

Despite all of these obstacles, we could make it and enjoyed every moment we spent together and are very proud of all the work done.

Fusion FRANCE, Belfort; That was the last stop before the final destination

 Fusion France was about photo editing and educational games and there was FOOD in the cultural background.
The workshops are intensive work in creating games, not just talking about it. They are very systematic, organized, insightful, and inspiring, as always. The lessons were practical and engaging. I now have more tools to teach my lesson.
We started with Action Bound to discover Belfort. We learned a lot about both Belfort and Antion Bound.
Then we learned Genially, Learning apps, and several photo editing apps.
We experienced how to play escape in education and for fun.
The level of expertise and knowledge of the presenters are excellent. In addition, I appreciate their positive attitudes, willingness to explain concepts, clarity of visual aids and handouts, and opportunities to ask questions.

Fusion France was a great educational experience for the Turkish team. We definitely learned new strategies. We gained a better understanding of the concept of knowledge and how to apply it to the curriculum.
I had the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the elements of reasoning and the use of elements, as well as discuss instructional design so as to incorporate educational games.
My teaching is being transformed to inspire students’ development of my digital skills through practice and through effective facilitation.

After Fusion France, I shared my knowledge about the ‘Educational Games Tool’ in an online seminar at school with participants from 50 teachers in different subjects.

Enjoyed sharing my understanding with others.
Corinne is very knowledgeable; she inspires me to think more and more deeply.

Escape Games in Belfort, France

During the week we have spent in Belfort, France, working in the Lyceé Condorcet with our host, Corinne Hoffert, within the fifth mobilitiy in our FUSION Erasmus + Project, we have learnt how to create escape games to motivate and facilitate our students’ learning in the different subjects we implement. Celine Gechter showed us Genially; Elizabeth Hoffman and Jane Neyret asked us to be students to solve the mystery of the stolen artwork in the museum; Elisabeth Clerc and Laetitia Claudel showed us an example of a commercial escape game on celtic legends and Corinne Hoffert taught us about the different apps we can use to create the challenges (Learningapps) as well as many mobile apps to create collages (Collage, Be Funky, InCollage, InShot, Phinsh), to remove the background of a photo (Remove Bg, Slazzer, etc..) and apps to create funny fonts for texts (Flaming Text, Textgiraffe, etc.) Corinne also created for us in ActionBound an escape game to visit Belfort and discover its cultural and historical treasures. This has been a very technological visit and we thank Corinne for her great idea to work this methodological aspect of teaching pursuing this goal: “What we learn with pleasure we never forget”.

Durante la semana que hemos pasado en Belfort, Francia, trabajando en el Lyceé Condorcet con nuestra anfitriona, Corinne Hoffert, en la quinta movilidad de nuestro proyecto Erasmus + FUSION, hemos aprendido a crear “escape games” para motivar y facilitar el aprendizaje de nuestros estudiantes en las diferentes materias que implementamos. Celine Gechter nos mostró Genially; Elizabeth Hoffman y Jane Neyret nos convirtieron en sus alumnos y alumnas para resolver el misterio del cuadro robado en el museo; Elisabeth Clerc y Laetitia Claudel nos mostraron un ejemplo de escape game comercial sobre leyendas célticas y Corinne Hoffert nos enseñó diferentes aplicaciones que podemos usar para crear collages (Collage, Be Funky, InCollage, InShot, Phinsh), para borrar el fondo de una imagen (Remove Bg, Slazzer, etc..) y apps para crear fuentes gráficas divertidas (Flaming Text, Textgiraffe, etc.). Corinne también creó para nosotros un escape game usando la app ActionBound, para visitar Belfort y descubrir sus tesoros históricos y culturales. Esta ha sido una visita muy tecnológica y agradecemos a Corinne su gran idea de trabajar este aspecto metodológico en la enseñanza con la finalida de conseguir nuestro objetivo docente: “Lo que se aprende con placer/divertimento, nunca se olvida”

Dissemination posters of the 2nd CFGS of the Analysis and Quality Control Laboratory

The students of the 2nd CFGS of the Analysis and Quality Control Laboratory have made the following dissemination posters about some of the instruments used in the analysis of different substances.

Making use of digital resources such as Canva or Metaverse, they have designed posters that go beyond plain text in which, through the different incorporated QRs, information, images and even videos can be consulted, as well as enjoying an interactive experience created by students for this activity, included in those carried out in the Instrumental Analysis module.

Digital tools and professional studies together for FUSION

Once more, our students in the 2nd year of Professional Studies of Laboratory Analysis and Quality Control have done an excellent work creating a magazine and editing a video with the contents they have worked this term in the Lab tests and Laboratory Practices. Using digital tools they show us different contents such as measurament equipment like calypers, manual digital like micrometers and the properties of polymers. To edit the video they used InShot, an app we were told about in our FUSION meeting in North Macedonia. Six students participated in the recording and editing of this film.

In Canva, the second group with 7 students shared the same content in a different visual way creating a magazine. Ana Belén Déniz, our Erasmus + colleague who teaches the Bilingual Module in this level and worked with these students assessed the results very positively.

Una vez más, nuestro alumnado del 2º año del Ciclo Superior de Análisis de Laboratorio y Control de Calidad ha hecho un trabajo excelente creando una revista y editando un vídeo con los contenidos trabajados este trimestre en los ensayos físicos y las prácticas de laboratorio. Usando herramientas digitales nos muestran diferentes contenidos como son el uso de los pie de rey y micrómetros y las propiedades de los polímeros. Para editar el vídeo usaron la aplicación InShot que conocimos en la visita a Macedonia del Norte en FUSION. Seis estudiantes participaron en la grabación y edición final del vídeo.

En Canva, el segundo grupo de clase formado por siete estudiantes compartió el mismo contenido utilizando una forma visual diferente: la creación de una revista. Ana Belén Déniz, nuestra compañera de Erasmus + que imparte el Módulo Bilingüe en este nivel trabajó y evaluó muy positivamente los resultados.

Food and Friendship: key for any Erasmus+ Project

 

Todd Ruthman said: “It’s the things in common that make relationships enjoyable, but it’s the little differences that make them interesting”. In all our mobilities within the FUSION Erasmus + Project we have enjoyed those little differences sharing our “tables”. Food has helped us to “break walls of shyness and communication”. As in our previous visits, at lunch time, we have shared not only our traditional food such as “our mojos” (red and green), “our papas arrugadas” or “our Spanish omelette with onion” with a final “barraquito” to end the meal but also, our stories about teaching in very similar conditions all around Europe. We want to motivate our students, to improve our digital skills in teaching and that’s the main goal of FUSION but, as we all know, at the end of this adventure, what we will have are “friends and colleagues” to keep in touch, to laugh via whatsapp and to share good memories and experiences from all those little things, common and different, which make friendship so enriching.

COMIDA Y AMISTAD: LA CLAVE DE CUALQUIER PROYECTO ERASMUS +

 Como Todd Ruthman dijo:“Son las cosas en común las que hacen que una relación sea agradable pero son las diferencias las que la hacen interesante”. En todas nuestras movilidades en el Proyecto Erasmus + FUSION hemos disfrutado de esas pequeñas diferencias compartiendo nuestras “mesas”. La comida nos ha ayudado a romper los muros de la timidez y la comunicación. Como en nuestras visitas anteriores, a la hora del almuerzo, hemos compartido no solo nuestra platos tradicionales como “nuestros mojos” (rojo y verde), nuestras “papas arrugadas” o “nuestra tortilla española con cebolla” con un último “barraquito” para cerrar nuestra comida, sino también, nuestras historias sobre la enseñanza en condiciones muy parecidas por toda Europa. Queremos motivar a nuestros alumnos, mejorar nuestras destrezas digitales en la enseñanza y ese es el objetivo principal de FUSION pero, como todos sabemos, al final de esta aventura, lo que tendremos son “amigos y colegas” para mantener el contacto, reírnos via whatsapp y compartir buenos recuerdos y experiencias de todas esas pequeñas cosas, comunes y diferentes, que hacen que la amistad sea tan enriquecedor

Above the clouds in Canary Island

We had an amazing week in Canary Island between 15th-20th November 2021.

We are above clouds on the way to beautiful Teide yes, indeed physically it is true in addition to this we are above the clouds emotionally, as well.

Basically, it means we are rising, rising, rising . . . above the clouds as FUSION project. At the fourth meeting in Tegueste, we discovered several educational tools which help teachers to create materials and broaden the walls of their classrooms. In Spain meeting, in addition to educational tools, cultural interaction was also provided by music. How??

Let me explain; We had a guided tour in the Tenerife Auditorium, designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava. We attended a robotic workshop in La laguna teacher’s center. We were met Theremin, is an electronic musical instrument, which is played without any physical contact. This event was really compatible with the aims of the project. I think we hit twelve with this event. Because music and technology were brought together. It is a real fusion. At school in Tegueste, we joined the workshops on audio editing tool Audacity, speaking avatars, and making rap songs.

Learning music benefits people on many different levels. From enhancing cognitive capacities for children, teens, and adults to helping memory, literacy, creativity, self-confidence, and collaboration skills, the power of music has already been demonstrated by hundreds of scientific studies. That’s why music is one of key elements of our project,FUSION.

 Here is a sentence I learned last week and told everyone,I would like to say again:

The Canary Islands are geographically connected to Africa, politically to Spain but the people there whose spirit belong to the Canary Islands. As I always say ‘Experience is the best teacher.’ I feel lucky to have the opportunity to have a wonderful week in Tegueste, Santa Cruz Tenerife, La Laguna. I feel lucky to feel the atmosphere on the way to Teide, to see precious Teide, to taste delicious Canarian food,to attend a workshop on Canarian folk music and traditional dances.

The 4th meeting in Tegueste became one of the greatest parts of our story. Thank you for this motivating trainings.

We are fortunate to have amazing hosts like you, the Spanish team! Thanks to you, we saw the power of teamwork once again. Thank you all.

Ierapetra September 2021 (Summary of the Hungarian team)

Five teachers from the Hungarian school could take part in the third Erasmus meeting in Ierapetra in September 2021. The host school prepared a varied program for us, on the first day, students gave a concert and we watched a video about the wonderful Crete.  We had ICT lessons about Arduino and robotics and we had the possibility to practise the gained knowledge. We also had colourful cultural programs like the tour to Heraklion and learning Greek dances.

This staff- training program was very useful for the participants, we got up-to-date ICT knowledge and we could share our teaching practice.

First post-pandemic meeting; in Ierapetra, Crete, Greece

The meeting in Ierapetra was more than a normal meeting. It was the first pandemic meeting of our project, FUSION. We were excited for seeing each other. We were excited about what we would learn and what we could discover.

Our last physical meeting was in Kocani, North Macedonia in February 2020. Our meetings were canceled, postponed, and moved online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We have organized more than three virtual meetings since then. But we had missed meeting face-to-face, communication face to face, learning together, discovering a new culture, knowing newcomers to the team, taking photos, posing crazy photos, having social meals so on.That’s why we enjoyed every moment of lerapetra meeting after a year and a half of the pandemic.
Covid-19 has transformed the way we live ,the way we travel,the way we teach, even the way we think.


Experiences are everything.We experienced the first post pandemic international travel, from hand sanitisers in hotel lobbies to cabin crew in masks, to vaccination certificates,to filling Plf forms.

But it was really worth it,we spent a great time in lerapetra that made our hearts feeling overjoyed.

It was really nice staying in lerapetra. We had pleasing moments with all the FUSION team. Thank you again FUSION GREECE team for the beautiful experience and fun time we had with you.

 I'm looking forward to meeting again and learning more about the things that say who we are such as history,people,cultures,dances ,music,food .

3rd meeting of the FUSION program at the 2nd Lyceum of Ierapetra

The third meeting for the two-year program Erasmus + KA229, entitled FUSION, was successfully implemented in Ierapetra and the 2nd General High School, last week and specifically in the period from 20 to 24 September 2021.

In the context of the dissemination of innovative teaching practices in the wider educational community and the training in tools of Web 2.0., During this educational visit, they were introduced to presentation tools (Genial.ly, Prezi eMaze), with software that help and contribute to distance learning providing better organization of the digital classroom (edevo Teacher) but also giving a playful character by stimulating the interest of students (Lucky Cage, Decision Roulette, Quizilize, Hotpotatoes, Liveworksheets, Education Madmagz), so that in the future they will be useful teaching tools.Also, robotics workshops (Arduino and Lego Education Spike Prime) and presentations of award-winning etwinning projects were implemented.
The educational dimension of the mission was completed by the acquaintance with the Greek traditional music, the learning of traditional dances, the visit to other neighboring cities and their archeological sites, such as the Toplou Monastery in Sitia, the archeological site of Knossos, the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion and at the tomb of N. Kazantzakis but also the tour / guided tour of the most important monuments of our city. The program ended with the best of impressions and it was found once again that only benefits can be obtained from such a "multicultural" cooperation.

3η συναντηση του προγραμματος FUSION στο 2ο Λυκειο Ιεραπετρας

Αισίως υλοποιήθηκε και η τρίτη συνάντηση για το διετές πρόγραμμα Erasmus+ KA229, με τίτλο FUSION, στην Ιεράπετρα και στο 2ο Γενικό Λύκειο, την περασμένη εβδομάδα και συγκεκριμένα την περίοδο από 20 έως 24 Σεπτεμβρίου 2021.

Στο πλαίσιο της διάχυσης καινοτόμων διδακτικών πρακτικών στην ευρύτερη εκπαιδευτική κοινότητα και της επιμόρφωσης σε εργαλεία του Web 2.0., στη διάρκεια κι αυτής της εκπαιδευτικής επίσκεψης, έγινε γνωριμία με εργαλεία παρουσίασης (Genial.lyPrezi eMaze), με λογισμικά που βοηθούν και συνεισφέρουν στην εξ’ αποστάσεως διδασκαλία παρέχοντας καλύτερη οργάνωση της ψηφιακής τάξης (edevo Teacher) αλλά και προσδίδοντας έναν παιγνιώδη χαρακτήρα κεντρίζοντας το ενδιαφέρον των μαθητών (Lucky CageDecision RouletteQuizilizeHotpotatoesLiveworksheetsEducation Madmagz),  ώστε να αποτελέσουν στο μέλλον χρήσιμα διδακτικά εργαλεία. Ακόμη, υλοποιήθηκαν εργαστήρια ρομποτικής (Arduino και Lego Education Spike Prime) και παρουσιάσεις βραβευμένων με ετικέτα ποιότητας etwinning έργων.

Την επιμορφωτική διάσταση της αποστολής συμπλήρωσε η γνωριμία με την ελληνική παραδοσιακή μουσική, η εκμάθηση παραδοσιακών χορών, η επίσκεψη σε άλλες γειτονικές πόλεις και στους αρχαιολογικούς τους χώρους, όπως στη Μονή Τοπλού στη Σητεία, στον αρχαιολογικό χώρο της Κνωσού, στο Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο του Ηρακλείου και στον τάφο του Ν. Καζαντζάκη αλλά και η περιήγηση/ξενάγηση στα σημαντικότερα μνημεία της πόλης μας.

Το πρόγραμμα ολοκληρώθηκε με τις καλύτερες των εντυπώσεων και διαπιστώθηκε για άλλη μια φορά πως μόνο οφέλη μπορεί κανείς να αποκομίσει από μια τέτοια «πολυπολιτισμική» συνεργασία.

Ierapetra, Crete...A new beginning “Mask to mask” for the FUSION Team

 Here we are again after a year and a half without meetings face to face! Ierapetra and María, our Greek coordinator, have given us the opportunity of seeing again old friendly faces and new ones. This meeting is the first of our last year in the project. In November we will travel to Tegueste, Tenerife. In March we will visit our French partners in Belfort and the project will be closed by our Hungarian friends in May. After living the hardest pandemic times we are here AGAIN! We have been working online in our meetings during the last months but we really looked forward to having this “face to face/ mask to mask” contact sharing, as we have done, the workshops about robotics (Arduino and Lego), the review of different apps to use in our teaching and the Greek traditional dance session offered by Dimitri Kaparakis. Sharing our lunch and dinner meals, breakfast in the hotel, trips to cultural sites like Knossos Palace or just being all together telling each other how we have faced life during these last months, made our stay in Crete an unforgettable experience. Thanks to María and her Greek colleagues for hosting us and “bravo” for all of us for being so an incredible team!

Aquí estamos de nuevo después de un año y medio sin reuniones cara a cara. Ierapetra y María, nuestra coordinadora griega, nos han dado la oportunidad de reencontrarnos con viejos rostros amigos y también con nuevas caras. Este encuentro es el primero de nuestro último año de proyecto. En noviembre viajaremos a Tegueste, Tenerife. En marzo visitaremos a nuestros socios franceses en Belfort y el proyecto lo cerrarán nuestros amigos húngaros en mayo. Después de vivir los tiempos tan duros de la pandemia estamos aquí DE NUEVO! Hemos seguido trabajando online en nuestras reuniones durante los últimos meses pero todos realmente deseábamos con muchas ganas volver a tener este contacto “cara a cara/ mascarilla a mascarilla” compartiendo como lo hemos hecho talleres de robótica (Arduino y Lego), la revisión de aplicaciones para la enseñanza en aula y la sesión de baile tradicional griego que nos ofreció Dimitri Kaparakis. Compartir mesa en el almuerzo y la cena, en el desayuno en el hotel, en los trayectos a los destinos culturales como el Palacio de Knossos o simplemente estar juntos contándonos como nos hemos enfrentado a estos meses pasados, hizo de nuestra estancia en Creta una experiencia inolvidable. Gracias a María y a sus compañeros/as griegos por recibirnos y cuidarnos y un “bravo” para todos nosotros por ser un equipo increíble.

I loved these two first episodes and I hopethey will go on with the series even if the teachers andstudents are a bit caricatural . Here again ,relationships are more important than teaching . But itis interesting to see how this teacher tries to motivatehis students to read and appreciate literature.

(series)La faute à Rousseau (series)This French series is a remake from a Spanish series entitled Philo .It deals with the relationship of a philosophy teacher and his class( and hisson who is his student) . Each episode highlights another philosophical topicsuch as duty , love , honour, etc.. that's whyI highly recommend this series to terminales students in order to preparetheir philosophy exam.I liked it also because it is fresh, funny and even if it not always realistic, itsinsight in the role of a teacher in the building of their students' personalities isquite interesting and motivating. The teacher has a very original pedagogy ,and it must admit , that even if his ideas seem a bit crazy sometimes, ( suchas sending them to the café to get answers) , some of them are original andinnovative.
